Moong dal khichdi (dhilli khichdi) is very soft and tasty recipe. It is also very healthy just reduce ghee a bit.
Ingredients :1cup rice
1cup moongdal (unpolished)
Pick, clean,wash and soak rice and dal in plenty of water for at least half an hour.
2tbsp. ghee (clarified butter)
2 sticks cinnamon
Method : In a pressure cooker heat 6 cups of water (1200ml.).Put flame on high. Add all the spices to water.
Add everything including salt, ghee etc. When water comes to rolling boil add soaked dal-rice. And lower the heat to slow.
After adding everything just stir it once and close the lid properly.
Give 5 whistles on slow flame or simmer for 25 minutes.
Let the cooker cool itself, then open the lid.You can put more ghee as I have done or serve it as it is very soft.
Serve it with Gujarati kadhi It is an awesome combination.
